Something I'm really bad at: pausing my hustle long enough to have a moment of chill. Something I really love: long soaks in a hot bath that make me feel extra. Enter homemade bath salts.
Epsom salts have totally changed the game for me since I first bought my jumbo-sized bag from Amazon 3 years ago. They're high in magnesium, a nutrient many of us are deficient in and one that helps our body relaxxx. And they also help to pull toxins out of the body through your skin. So basically a few minutes of soak helps say adios to junk we don't need and hola to rest we so desperately do.
You can get great benefits from the epsom salts alone, but I told y'all I take my baths seriously. In this recipe, I include lavender and rose to pump up the soothing qualities. Lavender is known for improving mood, reducing stress, reducing pain and improving sleep. And rose absolute oil has been proven to help balance hormones and improve mood, even fighting depression. And let's be honest, they just add the spa-like factor you need in your own bathtub. Combine the three, and you're zen as can be.
I actually did a little research trying to figure out the best place to buy dried flowers. I thought my local flower shop might be the best option, but turns out Amazon was just so much cheaper. I got this 16-oz bag of organic dried lavender and this 4-0z bag of natural dried rose petals from Amazon. Both of these are definitely more than you'll need for this DIY, but it was just sooo much cheaper and I'm glad to now have them on hand for future projects (and prettifying smoothie bowls).
I love Aura Cacia's oils for the quality and price, so I snagged their lavender oil and rose absolute oil to add the concentrated fragrance and healing benefits.
It's really important that you store them in a glass container! Essential oils can leach into plastic, so for safe storage, choose a glass option. I made myself a nice big batch and store them in my bathroom in this 1 gallon heritage jar. It makes a beautiful display and serves as decor as much as practical storage. But I also used these 8-oz glass jars to make some small servings for gifts for friends!
So make them for yourself or make them for a friend. They're pretty inexpensive and easy for such a luxury and they feel like pure heaven. Enjoy a few moments of flower-infused bliss! xx, molls

how much should i use in one bath?
Hey Karry, it totally depends, but I usually use about 1/2 to 3/4 cup. My husband on the other hand uses a lot more 😝 Enjoy!
I originally gave this recipe 4 stars because it did not include the amount to be used per bath. However this is definitely a 5 star recipe! Thank you Mollie!
Thanks for the kind words, Karry! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed it! Hope it’s made your bath times extra sweet 🙂 I didn’t add a serving size as I know it varies per person, but I can see how that would be helpful. How much do you use per bath?
