Meet my pregnancy morning elixir: the drink I’ve been stirring up every morning of this pregnancy.
This came to be early in my first trimester when I was struggling with a little nausea and couldn't stomach my usual morning smoothie.
I couldn't get my smoothie down, but I still wanted to get some nutrients and support in.
It’s loaded with easy superfood ingredients for hydration, thyroid support, blood sugar balance, and progesterone production.
Sipping on this first thing every morning has been an easy way to incorporate extra nourishment support in my diet to make sure baby and I both have everything we need!
Here are the details:
Coconut water is nature's Gatorade – loaded with natural electrolytes and a great source of potassium.
Potassium is critical for helping your thyroid hormone get into your cells, which often can slow down during pregnancy. It also helps keep blood pressure in check to prevent any preeclampsia.
I always recommend looking for coconut water with no added sugars. I love to stock up on the organic option in bulk at Costco.
→ Add as much as you like, I usually do about 8 ounces of coconut water and the rest regular filtered water.
It's so important to stay properly hydrated while pregnant, and water alone does not do the trick! With the increased blood volume and stress demands, staying fueled with plenty of electrolytes helps make sure both you and baby have proper hydration.
(It also has the added bonus of helping keep skin fresh and prevent stretch marks!)
I love Re-lyte from Redmond's Real Salt because it has a mineral-rich sea salt and whole food ingredients. It is sweetened with a little stevia, which I personally avoid in large amounts, but it's just enough to cut the flavor of the coconut water and make it delicious.
(If you want to skip the electrolyte powder, you can also just squeeze lemon juice and do a pink of real sea salt!)

Acerola Cherry packs a vitamin C punch – like, 100 times more than an orange!
Vitamin C fuels progesterone production, which is crucial for pregnancy support and maintaining the strength of the uterine lining.

Myo-inositol is also known as B8 (though it's not technically a vitamin). It helps your cells become more insulin-sensitive, supporting blood sugar regulation.
Research shows its benefits for women with insulin issues and PCOS, improving fertility, and ovulation, and supporting healthy pregnancies.
I love taking this daily during my pregnancy to keep my blood sugar levels in check.
(You can read more about this one in this article on my 8 favorite supplements to support pregnancy.)
→ I do 1/2 tbsp in the elixir each morning.

Colostrum is the first milk that comes in after you have your baby and it's super rich in nutrients. You have a very small volume of it, but it's like liquid gold!
I'm always looking for a food-first approach to any vitamin, mineral, or nutrient. Bovine colostrum is an extra boost of high-quality, natural nutrients, minus the synthetics.
(I like the Core Colostrum from Equip over other brands for a few reasons that you can read in this article.)

These trace mineral drops are the final sprinkle of extra boost at the end.
They contain the minerals like sulfate, lithium, and boron that we need in lesser quantities but that are hard to get in our diet.
They don't taste great, but you can't taste just a few drops with all the other ingredients and they help me make sure I've got adequate minerals for baby's development!
SHOP → from Amazon
It's delicious and it makes me feel amazing each morning with an extra boost of hydration and energy!
If you're pregnant (or even if you're not), I know you'll love sipping on this magic elixir.
